Murchison Falls National Park lies in Northwestern Uganda and was first gazetted in 1926 as a Game Reserve. The park extends up to 3840 sq. km featuring vast savanna grassland, woodland, and rainforest, and is also divided into 2 sections by the Victoria Nile.
Over 76 mammal species including small and big game live in Murchison Falls National Park. These share habitats with over 451 species of birds including shoebill storks, dwarf kingfishers, the Great blue turacos, grey-headed kingfishers, speckle-fronted weaver birds, Senegal thick-knee, black-billed barbet, long-crested eagle, and more.

Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up & Travel to Murchison Falls Park – Enjoy a Rhino trek en route.
Have a heavy breakfast to start your beautiful day and after, meet the driver guide for a short briefing about your 3 days Murchison Falls National Park safari. Leave the hotel premises for Murchison Falls National Park taking the Kampala-Gulu Highway. The journey from Kampala to Murchison Falls Park may take between 6 and 7 hours.
But enroute, expect to branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to enjoy a guided rhino trek. At Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you will search for rhinos on-foot with an experienced guide. After the rhino trekking session, you will continue to Masindi to have a lunch break and later, connect to the park.

As you head to your lodge, you will be spotting some animals including monkeys. Before you get to the lodge, you may have a chance to visit the top of the falls to witness it while it forces itself into a narrow rock of 7-8 meters. After the visit to the top of water falls, proceed to your lodge to chill, dine and spend a night.
Day 2: Embark on a game drive with a guide & boat cruise.
Today’s morning game drive will begin a bit early to allow you to catch up with early risers as they become active for the day. A guided game drive will last for 2-3 hours and in your 4×4 Safari Car, expect to keep an eye on different wild animals. The expected sightings include giraffes, elephants, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, oribis, buffaloes, lions, and birds, and on a lucky day, you may come across lions.

Return from the game drive along the Northern Buligi track and settle for your leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, be at Paraa jetty to have a short briefing and later proceed with a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. About 2-3 hours will be spent on a boat cruise excursion and you will encounter many aquatic species such as hippos, crocodiles, birds, plus other freely roaming mammals along the river banks.
Upon reaching the bottom of falls, take pictures and return to the lodge for overnight stay and dinner.
Day 3: Departure back to Kampala / Entebbe.
A leisurely cup of tea will be enjoyed at the lodge and after, you will check out. You will board your safari car when fully prepared to start your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala and today brings to an end the captivating 3-days safari in Murchison Falls National Park.
