Sports Outreach
The sports outreach initiative under the HADC promotes sports for children’s active participation. While promoting this, the children also a healthier physical and emotional wellbeing is got. Community togetherness along with complementing the HADC’s wider efforts in nutrition, education and skilling are achieved through sports.
The sports outreach Program at HADC targets children in Namawojjolo, especially those capable of attending kindergarten and Junior School along with Saturday feeding program during school holidays.
The program’s aim integrates sports like soccer, netball and others as well as engaging in community activities. The initiative was initially launched as an extension of the organization’s broader work. Hence, using sports as a strategy to enhance teamwork, confidence among vulnerable children and discipline, many of whom face poverty and limited recreational opportunities.
Many sports activities are often held on Saturdays to coincide with the feeding program, where children gather for meals and can later engage in sports activities. Sports sessions are mostly facilitated by local volunteers and trained Community Champions. Games mostly include friendly matches, athletics, training and fun games, which create a joyful environment. Currently, the many participants have demonstrated improved social skills, confidence and engagement, reflecting the program’s impact on emotional development.
