Feeding Program for Children Every Saturday During School Holidays

Namawojjolo is a popular busy community along Jinja Road, Uganda. In here, Hope Alive Dream Centre stands tall as a pillar of the better tomorrow for those in need, vulnerable children with limited access to Education, basic needs and families who can’t afford to carter for their children or access proper health care facilities.

HADC since its inception in 2020 has yet transformed lives through employment opportunities, empowerment and compassion. Among its most noticeable impact from the start is a feeding program for children on every Saturday of the week during school holidays. These are heartfelt efforts that foster community, ensure proper nourishment, while keeping hope alive for the next generation.

The feeding program was originally launched in 2021 and could be offered on a weekly basis and these efforts saw many vulnerable children getting a health life. Even during the school holidays, a time when children lose access to school meals, HAPC has continued to give a hand. Given the economic inequality status in Uganda where the richer are extremely rich and the poor are extremely poor, on every Saturday, children from Namawojjolo community always gather at the HADC’s main community space to receive their well deserving nutritious meals.

Some of the meals served may include maize porridge, posho and beans all supplied from the local farmers. Over 200 children per session were served in 2024 and these would provide not just food but also a sense of stability and belonging during holiday periods.
