Our 3 days Bwindi gorilla habituation experience package is a pleasant one, taking you to the southwestern part of Uganda. Gorilla habituation is the process of gradually introducing the critically endangered mountain gorillas to human presence. This is done in the natural habitat of the mountain gorillas and their behavior should never be disrupted in the process.
Currently, gorilla habituation experiences are done in Rushaga sector in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gorilla habituation is quite distinct from gorilla trekking adventures. Gorilla trekking adventures offer visitors a full hour in the presence of a habituated gorilla family. Meanwhile, gorilla habituation offers 4 hours in the presence of a semi-habituated gorilla group.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a forested protected area that was established in 1991. The park covers a total of around 321 square kilometers. Bwindi is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site with around 459 mountain gorillas. Almost a half of the total global population of the mountain gorillas are found here. Thus, in the wild, Bwindi is the best place to see gorillas in Africa.
