Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Iby’iwacu visit

As your plane touches down at Kigali International Airport, our driver guide will be in place to welcome you into the country. After a short briefing on how your safari adventure will be packaged, you will journey to your booked lodge in the Volcanoes National Park in time for lunch.

Rwanda has a rich culture that dates to many years ago, and you get to experience this culture on a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village near the park. Learn in detail the cultures of the Rwandan people, such as their norms, values, and beliefs, while at the village. The traditional dancers with their songs will entertain you as you conclude with your visit. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Meals: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and departure

Venture through the forests of Volcanoes National Park for a gorilla trekking experience immediately after your early breakfast. As it is always the norm, gorilla trekking in Volcanoes always starts with a pre-briefing. This short briefing is meant to prepare you on what to expect while in the forest. It also takes you through the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking and the code of conduct around these primates.

After this, the rangers group you into groups of 8 and assign a gorilla family and a lead ranger guide. Traverse the thick canopies and the steep slopes of the park for about 4 hours searching for the mountain gorillas. Upon locating them, your hour in their presence will start ticking. Take pictures and record videos as you take in this epic moment of facing the primates in their natural habitat. Return to briefing center where our guide driver will drive you back to the lodge for lunch. Check out later after your lunch and journey to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight back home.
