Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and city tour

Tour Kampala city after a highlight of your trip from our driver guide as he picks you up from the airport in Entebbe. Proceed to the Namugongo shrine for a tale that dates back in the 90s when the Uganda martyrs were burnt alive at this place on orders of the then Buganda king.

Indulge in culture as you visit the Kabaka’s palace of the ruler of the Buganda kingdom and also the Kasubi tombs, a UNESCO site that acts as a burial place of the kings of Buganda. Enjoy a lunch stopover and taste the local dishes. Visit the religious sites around the city such as the Bahai temple, Namilembe Cathedral, and Rubaga Cathedral and head to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa

At cockcrow, eat breakfast and check out of the hotel for your transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa. The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a busy sanctuary that accommodates several tourists day in and out. While at this sanctuary, take on a rhino tracking experience that exposes you to a close interaction with the southern black rhinos on a walking safari.

Come across other species like leopards, giant pangolins, oribi, waterbuck, bushbuck, Ugandan kob, bohor reedbuck, common duiker, warthog, vervet monkey, and bushpig, to mention but a few. Off your visit to Ziwa, continue to yet another stopover for a lunch en route. Henceforth proceed to your booked lodge in Murchison Falls National Park for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise

Take on the main activities of the day beginning with a game drive after your delicious breakfast. Murchison Falls National Park is blessed with multiple wildlife species that will entertain and make your game drive experience a memorable one. Be sure to complete your Big 5 experience with an encounter with the remaining Big 4, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants.

Witness others like waterbucks, giraffes, antelopes, hyenas, warthogs, duiker, and oribis among others. Add to your experience with a tour to the Murchison Falls, a world wonder as the strongest waterfall. Cool off under the spray from the force of the falls, pushing past the rocks and a rainbow clothed up top. Journey back to the lodge for lunch and drive down stream to the Victoria Nile for a boat cruise.

Relax on the calm waters of the Nile as you spot aquatic species like hippos and crocodiles. Enjoy the view of the falls as you get to feel its strength from your boat cruise. Go back to the lodge later as the sun goes down for your dinner and rest.

Day 4: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Take the relatively long road to Kibale Forest National Park for a treat with the primates after your breakfast and check out. Pass via the crater lakes of the Fort Portal area and enjoy the picture perfect scenes of the twin lakes and the crystal clear crater lakes. Have an en route lunch in the city and proceed to the lodge in Kibale. You will be served dinner on arrival and have an overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland tour

Let the bird melodies wake you up for a delicious breakfast in preparation of your trekking experience. Be driven to the briefing center by our driver guide and have your briefing session that breaks down the rules and regulations for you. Join the formed group of 6 and in the guidance and lead of your ranger guide, head into the forest. Observe silence as per the rules and follow the trails of the primates and the rangers to the habitats of these primates.

The loud chants from the chimpanzees announce their presence to you, making the long trekking hours, worth it. Given your hour in their presence, recording videos and taking pictures for memories upon locating them. Our driver guide will drive you back to the lodge for lunch from the briefing center, where you will go after trekking chimps in the forest.

The Bigodi wetland tour will be your next adventure. Bigodi wetland has all it takes to give you an incredible time, from encountering primates like colobus monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, olive baboons, and vervet monkeys. With over 300 bird species, be sure you will encounter unique bird species. This unspoilt and uncharted natural wetland will take you back in time, and remind you how the earth is green. Interact with the stewardship of this wetland, which is the community who have ample knowledge on this incredible wetland and its inhabitants. Return to the lodge for dinner and sleep.

Day 6: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon boat cruise

In the morning, you will be served breakfast, check out, and journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Experience the landscape partners from the tropical rainforests of Kibale to the savannah and flat terrain as you near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Check into the lodge at noon and be served lunch. Hit the road again west to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. Spot various aquatic species of the park, including hippos and Nile crocodiles. As you dock off the boat, our driver guide will take you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game viewing in Ishasha and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

At dawn, after your breakfast, you will go on a game viewing excursion in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The fig and acacia tree branches harbor the apex predators of tree-climbing lions, which are the main attraction of the park that you will spot.

Drive through the sector as you encounter elephants, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, antelopes, waterbucks, and many other wildlife species. Return to the lodge for lunch before checking out. Visit the tea plantations in the afternoon as you travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Reach your booked lodge in the evening, have dinner, and rest.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking and Batwa tour

As the sun rises, have breakfast, and our driver guide will transfer you to the park offices for a briefing about the gorilla trekking experience. The rangers will then group you into groups of 8 and assign you a gorilla family to trek. In the lead of a ranger guide, move through the dense forest searching for the gorillas. After locating them, you will be given an hour to witness their characters and behavior, such as feeding, playing, and grooming.

Hike back to the park offices where our driver guide will take you back to the lodge for lunch. Tour the Batwa communities around the park after your lunch. Witness the way of life of these forest keepers and learn their culture and tales of their history. Enjoy their entertainment through traditional songs and dances before heading back to the lodge for dinner.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and boat cruise 

Leave the forest life of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park after your delicious breakfast at your lodge and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Reach your booked lodge at lunchtime and eat. In the afternoon, take on a boat cruise experience on the biggest lake in the park, Lake Mburo. Encounter wildlife species like hippos, crocodiles, and also other species like buffaloes, impala, zebras, and warthogs as they chill close to the shoreline. This boat cruise experience will take you until evening when you head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Game drive and departure

Lake Mburo is best explored on a game drive experience after your breakfast. In the comfort of your vehicle, you will spot various savannah wildlife species such as buffaloes, zebras, impalas, warthogs, giraffes, hyenas, leopards, and primates like vervet monkeys and olive baboons.

Our driver guide will thereafter drive you to the lodge for lunch as you check out. This marks the end of your 10 days Uganda wildlife and gorilla safari as you hit the road to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
